Ambassador Vahagn Afyan participated in a panel discussion on “New Age Diplomacy” organised bySushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS) of India within the framework of the 3rd Global South Young Diplomats Forum (GSYDF), which was attended by participants from 43 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, Caribbean Islands, Eurasia and Oceania.
In his remarks, Ambassador Afyan noted that Armenia actively participated in all three of India’s “Voice of the Global South” Summits. He referred to the International Day of Peace (September 21) and Armenia’s Independence Day, emphasizing that thanks to the active efforts of modern diplomacy, a reality of established peace now exists between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Referring to the agreements of August 8 in this year, the Ambassador highlighted the Armenian Government’s “Crossroads of Peace” project, the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) connectivity program, as well as bilateral documents signed in the fields of energy security, artificial intelligence and semiconductors.
Reference has been also made to the strategic partnerships concluded by Armenia with various countries, including the United States and Georgia, earlier this year and last year, as well as the ongoing developments in that direction. Special attention was given to the significance of the trilateral consultation format involving Armenia, Iran and India.
The Ambassador further underlined Armenia’s membership in the International Solar Alliance (ISA), an initiative by India and France, the establishment of a branch of the “TUMO” Center for Creative Technologies in India, as well as the implementation of the “Academic City” and “Engineering City” projects in Armenia.
